Vishnuprayag, located in Uttarakhand's Chamoli district at 1,372 meters, is the first of the Panch Prayag (five sacred confluences) where the Alaknanda River meets the Dhauliganga River. The town is a significant pilgrimage spot due to its proximity to Badrinath located 32 km away.

The town sits at an elevation of 1372 meters (4,500 feet). The official languages are Hindi and Sanskrit, while Garhwali is the mother tongue of most locals.

Vishnuprayag has a pleasant climate in the summers (April to July). The maximum temperature rises to about 25°C - 26°C and the minimum temperature falls to about 5°C - 8°C.

It is advisable that all devotees should plan carefully to ensure their health & safety as per their health concerns. Keep rain coat and woolen clothes. Keep proper & regular medicines, if any.

The nearest airport is Jolly Grant Airport, located in Dehradun, approximately 287 km from Vishnuprayag. The journey takes around 9-10 hours by road, passing through Chamoli, Rudraprayag, and Rishikesh, with taxis available for hire at the airport.

By Train

The closest railway station is Rishikesh, about 253 km away. Rishikesh is well-connected by frequent trains from major Indian cities. From there, Vishnuprayag can be reached easily via taxis or state-run/private buses. The journey takes around 8-9 hours by road.

By Road

Vishnuprayag is well-connected by motorable roads to major towns and cities in Uttarakhand and northern India.
